monthly recap

Dear Meta, New Pen Name, Covers, Pictures from France… a monthly recap.

It’s been about a month since my last blog post. Hi! Wishing you all the words or time to think about your words, books that make you feel and warmth. Here’s a (non-exhaustive) recap from the last 30 days…

This past month, I spent a lot of my time (really, a LOT of my time) exchanging emails with Meta about my restricted Facebook Ads account. (your guess is as good as mine). My Facebook Ads account is now disabled. Read more about it in my Substack post, Dear Meta, It’s Not Me, It’s You…

I now have 456 subscribers on my YouTube channel!

I shared voice memos (and more) about my writing process on my FREE Patreon. If you’d like to listen to them and get early access and random musings and a CHAT (with a pickle), make sure you join…

Writing is also 3am voice memos to myself…

I spent a bit less than two weeks in France–spending time with my family and enjoying walks and moments around the area where I grew up.

Pictures from the plane… and the airport in Iceland…

The Chemical Engineer and I celebrated our engagement anniversary on St. Patrick’s Day ๐Ÿ™‚

For years, I’ve been thinking about splitting my Elodie Nowodazkij fiction in two. And it’s time. Read more about it in Two Heat Levels, One Author Brain (And A Little Bit of Hopefully Organized Chaos) here.

For book club, I read Heartless and couldn’t put it down… so I read Rebel Witch right after…. Love, love, love that duet! Have you read it?

Also Kristen called Heartless Hunter her fuck-it book… and I’m going to share more about my Fuck-It book aka Nice Guys… very soon.

My newsletters this month (in case you missed them :-)) – the latest one had a question about your favorite cover (and an exclusive access to the first 1.5 part of Nice Guys…)

The covers I’m looking at …for Nice Guys Don’t Kiss Like That At Christmas (and more)

(also it’s already up for pre-order)

The One With #DreamNowTravelLater or #ArmChairTravel…

This past week on Instagram, I’ve shared some travelling pictures I’ve taken some years ago and I figured maybe you too might want to do some #ArmChairTravel … One of the places I’d love to go to is Ireland. I shared a picture on my feed from another photographer (crediting him of course) and this has become one of my most liked picture. For this blog, I’m sharing his picture from a gorgeous cottage in Ireland from his account directly (in case you want to follow his Instagram account).

All the other pictures are by yours truly (Le Mont Saint-Michel, Chateau de Chantilly, Le Louvre, San Gimignano, Niagara Falls, Maine) ๐Ÿ™‚

If you could go on a dream writing retreat, where would it be? Or which place do you really want to go visit as soon as you can?

Have you already added #TheLeftoverBride on Goodreads?

Have you already pre-ordered it? My newest second chance romcom is available for a special pre-order price of $0.99! (ย Amazon,ย iTunes,ย Kobo)

Oh and did you know I have a podcast: A Self-Published Author’s Diary is available onย Spotify,ย Apple Podcasts,ย Google Podcastsย andย more…? Don’t hesitate to listen, subscribe, follow and review!

The One With The Bird Pictures Or Refilling the Creative Well…

Taking pictures is like telling a story: either the photographer, the subject or both.

And while I can’t count taking pictures as writing, it definitely helps fill the creative well. ๐Ÿ™‚

And I’ve been taking quite lot of bird pictures in the past few months: from my window, my backyard and on Sunday from a park close to us…The pictures below are just a selection of the dozens and dozens of pictures I must have taken. ๐Ÿ™‚

What do you do to refill your creative well?

As always if you’re enjoying this post, don’t hesitate to check out my books, audiobooks, subscribe to one of my newsletters (receive regular updates on my books, audiobooks and more / receive weekly emails about my self-publishing adventures) or forward it to a friend. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you!

Loving

Planning again!

Reading

Iย am finishing up HATE LIST by Jennifer Brown and man this book is breaking my heart.

Watching

The hubby and I started watching 30 Rock…Otherwise, I may or may not have Gilmore Girls (again) in the background when doing housework.

Listening To

My very eclectic playlist on my iPod while jogging and writing. I wrote at B&N yesterday after working and having my music on helps me to blur out everything that’s not my main characters.

Thinking About

Ways to make my characters even more real.

Anticipating

Family visit! At the end of April, the hubby’s mom and aunt are arriving and then my parents are joining the fun beginning of May.

Wishing

Hmmm ๐Ÿ™‚ You know if you’re on Goodreads, you can add FEAR ME, FEAR ME NOT to your TBR ๐Ÿ™‚

Making Me Happy

Walking the dog with the hubby almost every night and definitely every weekend. Quality time in the midst of our busy schedule is definitely making me happy.

Happy Friday – so many reasons to smile

Happy Friday

  • So we had the snow storm and we didn’t lose electricity and I definitely got a workout shoveling the snow ๐Ÿ™‚ We made yummy brunches, watched TV and even though the hubby had to go to work, we still spent a lot of fun times together. Plus, I got to take lots of pictures. Here’s one of my favorites.

DSC_0141

  • My husband is a big X Files fan and I had watched a few episodes throughout the years and I’m loving the new ones. So that calls for some nice evenings. TV-wise we also started watching Jane The Virgin and we’re enjoying it so far ๐Ÿ™‚
  • I’ve made great progress in LOVE IN B MINOR :), formatted an Italian/English version of One Dream Only, and a Portuguese/English version of One Dream Only.
  • This mash-up of ย Games of Thrones and The Bachelor…
  • My brother-in-law just sent me his corrected version of my French translation of One Dream Only and I am so excited about it!
  • As always, the support I receive from friends, family, former students, readers. So many reasons to be grateful!

So tell me, what made you smile this week?

Listening To

The Chemical Engineer and I started listening to the first Serial season and we’re already hooked.

Thinking About

Ways to organize myself so I can schedule four hours of writing/drafting/revising on days I’m not working and at least one hour of writing on days I’m working.

Anticipating

Using the Romance Planning Beatsheet Jami Gold has on her website (thanks again Katy and Alison for the tip!) as I go through LOVE IN B MINOR.

What I’m reading

I am almost done reading MORE THAN COMICS by Elizabeth Briggs and I don’t want it to end. LOVING IT!
MORE THAN COMICS
And I’m reading an awesome manuscript by a wonderful & lovely writer and friend. The type of writing that makes you pause and think “Wow.”
Yep, I’m lucky..

What else Iยดve been up to

  • Taking lots of pictures of Plato The Dog and Peter The Cat ๐Ÿ™‚ย and posting lots of them on Instagram ๐Ÿ™‚

Plato in the snow

2015-03-09_1425923284

  • Walking. A. Lot. Since the fence is still being put up, I take Plato on several walks a day.
  • Taxes, paperwork, trying to organize myself…

Whatย works for me

Critiquing or beta reading. Right now, as mentioned, I’m reading an amazing manuscript and I’m both inspired by the writing (it is gorgeous) and having my brain going into “critique” mode. It helps my own writing I think, especially when comes the time to do a read-through of my own manuscript.

I can’t wait to check all your posts and see what you’ve been up to ๐Ÿ™‚

Picture of the week: Peter the cat

Besides writing, I also enjoy taking pictures as you might know. And while, we havenยดt yet gone into re-exploring our area, our cat doesnยดt mind playing model for me.

Hereยดs one of my favorite pictures of the week…

Playing with Pinwords…

Pinwords lets you add text to images. You can use their background template or upload your own images. I’ve been quite a lot of fun using Pinwords both to illustrate thoughts or share quotes from my upcoming book (those quotes are still going through the copy editors at this stage :-)) I usually share them on my Facebook page and on Pinterest....
