My Christmas Wish List is out!

Yesterday was the day: My Christmas Wish List is out!

Technically, I started typing this at 10:30 p.m. on July 31st, still wondering whether I was going to post on social media before the day ended.

I did not. It’s now 7 a.m. on August 1st, but My Christmas Wish List under my Elodie Now name is officially out in the world.

And yesterday I was equal parts want-to-hide-under-my-desk nervous and running-around-like-a-hungry-raccoon excited. (That’s me. I’m the raccoon.)

This isn’t my first book. It’s not my tenth. Don’t ask me how many books I’ve published, I’ve been doing this for so long I’ve lost track. And I still crossed my fingers yesterday morning like it was 2014 all over again.

If you’ve been around here a while, you know this one’s been a long time coming. More than a year since I started drafting it.

And so many ups and terrible downs and grief still humming loudly.

And yes, at one point I changed a horse into a donkey named Cookie.

Plato is in it, too. Our Poopie who we said goodbye to in July 2025. Writing him into these scenes—the stubbornness, the pillow-humping, the nickname Poopie—is a big part of what pulled me back into the story last summer. He earns his place in every single scene now. If you know, you know. <3

So… What is it about?

A twelve-year-old on Liam’s doorstep, calling him Dad. His little sister’s best friend—Sophie, wedding planner, spiral-brain extraordinaire—crashing in to help. Nine years of restraint. One kitchen counter away from the naughty list.

Liam is a Grinch of a divorce lawyer who’s spent his career proving happily-ever-afters don’t exist. Sophie is here to save the exact thing he gets paid to end. There’s a cat annoying a beagle, an annotated list of holiday movies, a donkey nobody asked for, and a Christmas that is, frankly, a disaster waiting to happen.

It made me laugh. It made me swoon. It made me a little weepy at the end (don’t tell anyone). I hope it does at least one of those for you.

My books and audiobooks are available in libraries around the world!

One of the reasons I’m wide (meaning, not in Kindle Unlimited as Kindle Unlimited comes with an exclusivity clause) is that I want to have my books available in libraries (and I’d like to reach readers in other countries who may not have KU and readers who use other e-retailers but I digress).

And I’m crossing my fingers readers in KU have access to a library so that they can also read my books without additional cost to them.

Not all of my audiobooks are available in libraries. Some are exclusive to Audible for the moment but #TheLeftoverBride, A Summer Like No Other and Always Second Best (all narrated by the wonderful Megan Carter) are available in your libraries for you to listen to :-).

I cannot have the full details of where my books are in libraries but I can see the ones who got purchased via Overdrive…

Before I share the list… let me tell you:

How to request my e-books or audiobooks in your library (if your library uses Overdrive/Libby)

  • Make sure you have your library card near you.
  • Overdrive is used in several countries so if you’re in Canada, the UK, Australia or another country, don’t hesitate to check it out.
  • Go to the Overdrive Sign In account and you can sign in with your library card.
  • Type in “Elodie Nowodazkij” or you can type the title of one my books/audiobooks. Overdrive might show it as “recommend” or “not yet owned” o
  • Recommend the one you’d like to have added to your library.
  • The library can then either purchase it as a single check-out or purchase it to have one digital copy they can lend one at a time.

How to request my e-books or audiobooks if your library is using Hoopla

  • Disclaimer: not all my ebooks/audiobooks are available on Hoopla because for some reason Hoopla has blocked certain titles but not others (even some of my YA books are not available there. If you’d like one that is not available, you might need to contact them. I had no luck in that matter but maybe, as a patron, you will).
  • Again, make sure you have your library card near you.
  • Go to the Hoopla Catalog of my books.
  • Sign in using your library card. Your library may or may not use Hoopla. Mine doesnt but others in Maryland do, for example.
  • Start reading/listening…

How to request my e-books or audiobooks if your library is using Bibliotheca or if you’d like to request print versions?

  • You may need to try to request the book through Marina or InterLibraryLoan before filling out a form asking your favorite librarian to purchase a copy.
  • Most of my print books are available via the Ingram catalogue.

What happens when you request one of my ebooks or audiobooks through a library?

  • Yes, I do get royalties. There are different systems (price per checkout which is about 45 cents for most of my books/audiobooks or actual library purchase of a single e-copy which is an average of $7 of royalties for me and the library can check it out as many time as they’d like, one at a time).
  • When you request one of my books through the library, a grumpy book boyfriend learns how to smile.

In 2021 and 2022, some of my ebooks were purchased by those libraries via Overdrive…(I know some of my audiobooks were purchased via Bibliotheca and Hoopla but I don’t know where…)

Reading/Listening to next…Psychological thrillers

I’m in the mood for psychological thrillers and I think those three books will definitely fulfill that craving. Is that weird to say “craving” when it comes to psychological thrillers? Hmmm. I might either read or listen to them. If you’d like to read them, at the time of this post, both WHITE SMOKE and LOCAL WOMAN MISSING are on sale for $2.99… THE REPLACEMENT WIFE came out on Tuesday. 🙂

    On today’s episode I not only interview The Chemical Engineer, I also share about Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Awareness Week and talk about the Ulman Foundation and their conversation with Tamika Felder. They talked bout her experience with cervical cancer and what led her to inspire others to share their stories as well. They also talked about racial disparities in healthcare and other factors that impact AYA cancer care and will continue to share part of that discussion on their Instagram throughout the month. The Ulman Foundation means a lot to us as Megan, Director, Service & Care Delivery at the Ulman Foundation, was part of our support system during my treatments for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

    I have set the pre-order date for August 18th, 2021. Why? Because it’s my birthday. And I’m going to turn 40. And I feel like releasing a book would be a pretty awesome way to celebrate. I’ve started writing this book in December 2019, not long after my autologous stem cell transplant. It has been a book that has been taking me so long to write and revise. It’s going to be the first book (original) that I’m releasing since September 2019. 

    And as an indie author, I get to decide my release date. Plus, that will give me time to draft the second one in the series and the prequel short stories and start drafting MISS ME, MISS ME NOT (the story of Nadia and Gabriel will be coming your way soon-ish).
