Motivation Monday

A picture to make you smile on Monday…or a little bit of Monday motivation.

Pictures of Plato the Dog always make me smile. He’s silly and cuddly and stubborn and loving and so sweet.

I took this picture last week. He had taken a long nap during the afternoon and was just waking up, stretching, clearly not entirely ready to get up.

Kind of me like me some mornings…

Hope this picture makes you smile too and that your Monday is going well!

Happy Friday :)

Happy Friday

Gooooooood morning! At least on my side of the world 🙂 I’ve been up since a bit before 5 a.m. and I’ve been quite productive so definitely happy about this. I am on a strict deadline for my next book and I need to make it happen!

Here are a few things that made me smile this week.

  • The little things like this one…

  • Or this one…
  • Publishing A Summer Like No Other in Spanish!

  • Joining the American Association of Teachers of German again and thinking up ways to become a better teacher. I’m very excited about this.
  • Designing the cover of Always Second Best in Portuguese (available soon) 🙂

And so so much more! 🙂 Tell me what made you smile this week?

Six reasons why I’m smiling today

Hi 🙂 It’s been quite a long time since I roamed the internet…I’ve missed you blogging and Twitter and Facebook world.

I used to have Happy Friday posts, where I should share the highlights of my week. But I couldn’t wait until Friday, so here are six reasons why I’m smiling today. (I should add that having the time to do laundry actually also makes me happy, my wonderful husband has been taking care of everything while I was revising/editing)

1. I sent my novel to my copy editor yesterday.

2. I wrote the acknowledgements of ONE TWO THREE

3. More than 800 people entered the giveaway for my book on Goodreads

Happy Friday #15: Lost in translation and other stories…

Yay! It´s time again for Happy Friday! and it works well with the BlogMe MAYbe prompt for Fridays: May I share something funny?

I would love to know what made YOU smile this week 😀

Lost in translation or A little story to make you laugh (at my expense): About two weeks ago, hubby and I stood at the counter of a car rental place. My French papers do not all have my married name yet on them but I had booked the car under it. So when the very nice lady asks me about it, I tried to explain the situation. However, when I wanted to tell her: “Oh this is my maiden name”, I suddenly translated literary from French to German “Nom de jeune fille” which in English could be translated as “Young girl” and in German as “Jungfrau”….Well a “Jungfrau” is a virgin. So yep I totally told that lady: “This is my virgin name”. My hubby shook his head in disbelief and acted pretty much like when his Russian mother says something wrong in German. I was embarrassed but laughed it off.

Now onto things which made me smile this week:

Reading: INSURGENT…is the only word I will put there so not to spoil anything. It didn’t disappoint and I loved it.

Writing: I incorporated Jaime‘s suggestions in my first two chapters and tried to work on what she mentioned this morning. A critique partner really does make a difference 😀

Blogging: The response to my hubby’s post  made me really happy and the fact that he took the time to write it. He does want to let you know though that he breaks all these rules on a very regular basis

Honeymoon preparations:  We are going to spend one night at the Niagara Falls on our way from Detroit to Cape Cod! 😀 We’re so excited about this! and we bought a new camera…Can’t believe that we’re flying away in less than 2 weeks!!!

So tell me what made YOU smile this week?

Happy Friday, reading, revising

Happy Friday #11 – Little things and big smiles

Yay! It´s time again for Happy Friday!

Looking forward to knowing what made YOU smile this week!

Revising: I am going through another round of revising. Every morning and every evening in the train, I take out my beloved netbook and correct a lot of my previous silliness. I´ll post more about this on Monday but I think I´ve reached a “Tada” moment in this process and that brings a BIG smile to my face.

Reading: For Tracey´s YA Book club, I´ve read WANDERLOVE last weekend and I cannot talk about it yet but it did make it to my happy friday so it should give you a hint 😀 I´m also reading Stephen King´s ON WRITING and I´m falling in love with this book. I´ll explain the reasons soon and thank you Sara for giving me the slight push to actually dive into this book. If you´ve read those books, don´t hesitate to click on those wonderful bloggies´ links to join the fun!

ChangeWriteNowA big wave to my team and to all participating. I´m really enjoying the support. We´re scattered all around the world but encouragement is one computer screen away 😀

Pinterest: It had been awhile since I worked (well ok played) with the shiny things on Pinterest….and yesterday I let my fingers run free and  found (among many other things) this quote –

The beauty of Twitter: I´ve raved before about how much I like connecting with other writers on Twitter. Really, it´s fun! And thanks to Twitter (and Katy), I came across this video…

“Sh*t Writers say…”

So, tell me, what made YOU smile this week?
