Celebrate great books and you could win a KINDLE :)

Release Day Party

I am so excited for two wonderful friends who are publishing their books on Monday. If you like New Adult contemporary romance, those books are for YOU.  No kidding, the writing is flawless and engaging, the characters jump out of the pages and you’re going to LOVE the stories. To celebrate their releases, Elizabeth Briggs and Riley Edgewood are hosting a FACEBOOK party on Monday, February 23rd with tons of amazing authors and pretty awesome prizes, like a KINDLE. You can find all details and RSVP to the party here.

SURF & SURRENDER (A SUMMER LOVE NOVEL #2)
(Available February 23rd, 2015)

She wants to forget he ever existed. He’d never give up her memory.

Quinn Westwood is completely over Sawyer Carson. He broke her heart years ago and disappeared from her life without a word. So yeah. She’s over him. Never even thinks of him. In fact, she’s spending her college summer break surfing and lifeguarding in the Outer Banks, while nursing a bruised heart from a differentrelationship gone wrong. She doesn’t have room in her mind or heart for Sawyer–until she runs into him at a beach bonfire and the sparks that fly between them are way hotter than the flames heating the sand.

Sawyer never got over Quinn. The only thing stronger than what he feels for her is the secret keeping them apart, but sharing it would destroy more than just his life–it’d ruin hers, as well. Still, he can’t seem to keep away from her, can’t seem to keep his hands off of her soft, tempting skin. Especially since she has even less self-control when it comes to reigniting the physical side of what made them perfect together.

But secrets have a way of slipping out, and when Sawyer’s is revealed, it threatens to shatter everyone involved. He’ll have to face walking away a second time, and Quinn will have to decide if fighting for him is worth it when the fallout could affect more than just her heart, but also those of the people she loves most.

MORE THAN COMICSMORE THAN COMICS (CHASING THE DREAM #2)

They’re friends online – but can they be more in real life?

Writer Tara McFadden has been friends with artist and drummer Hector Fernandez for years, long before his band became famous on reality TV – yet they’ve never met in person. They finally have a chance to connect offline when they’re both sent to Comic-Con to promote the graphic novel they collaborated on.

Hector’s secretly been in love with Tara for as long as he can remember, and once they meet, she sees him in a new light. All the years of longing lead to an incredible night of passion after one of his concerts, but neither is sure if their online relationship can translate into a real life romance – or if this will ruin their friendship forever.

Over four crazy days at Comic-Con, Hector and Tara must decide if they want a future together. But when their story seems to be over, it’s up to Hector’s entire band to make sure he and Tara get their happy ending.

What I’m reading

I just started THE LIST. I am probably going to have many thoughts about this book and I’m looking forward to set some time aside to read it.
THE LIST

What else I´ve been up to

  • Using my new planner. During our writing retreat, we started talking about planners, especially Erin Condren’s planners and I received mine last week. LOVE IT!
  • Taking care of Plato The Dog. He broke part of a nail two nights ago, he’s not in pain and lets me clean his paw. So yesterday, we took it easy…2015-02-17_1424205940
  • One of our neighbors is raising money for charities while selling beautiful jewelry.  Her husband is running the Vermont 100k this July. He is raising money for the Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports program. This program empowers individuals with disabilities throughout the year, to enjoy sports and recreation  I’ve received my earrings on Friday and I LOVE THEM. You can find more info here.earrings

What works for me

Each night, I try to write 3 things I’m grateful for in my planner. It’s a way to help focus on the positive and I find that it works for me.

I can’t wait to check all your posts and see what you’ve been up to 🙂

WriterRecharge 2015

IOnce again hosted by Sara Biren, Katy Upperman, Alison Miller, Liz Parker, and me, Writer Recharge is your chance for a four-week jump start in the middle of a cold, dreary winter. Set goals for yourself, check in once a week, and connect with other recharging writers

#WriterRecharge Update Two

READ/REREAD
I want to schedule some more reading time…When I used to commute, it was easy to read LOTS of books in the train and I want to read at least 4 books this month, including a book that my husband recommended based on a show he heard on NPR: Ghost Boy  –> I finished reading LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT and it was AMAZING! Now I will be starting GHOST BOY (almost did last week but then didn’t happen.)

STRETCH
Continue learning Photoshop. I’ve been teaching myself a few tricks but I’d like to explore a bit more and become familiar with more of the features available. –> Hmmm…I was supposed to learn how to make a full Photoshop cover. Didn’t happen. Doh.  So…trying to do it this week.

SELF
Working out again. It’s been forever since the last time I worked out. I hurt my ankle, then got a bad cold and now am just lazy. Time to get my butt moving. I need to work out at least 3 times a week in February (not counting walking Plato the dog). –> Walked the dog a lot and did one 30 minutes workout. So, I am counting this as a YAY. For this week, let’s do two 30 minutes workout, especially since I am not going to take Plato The Dog on loooong walks with this cold. He doesn’t like it much and I’m ready for Spring.

CONNECT
Writer’s Retreat. I still cannot believe that on this Friday, I’ll be heading down to West Virginia with some amazing writers for a weekend retreat (so looking forward to meeting all of them in real life :))

FUN
Plan a few outings with the husband: going for walks, maybe the movies and I think, I think he’s taking me to a nice restaurant on Valentine’s Day (he hinted upon it several times) 🙂 so I’m looking forward to that. I’d also like to start taking more pictures again. –> We changed our Valentine’s Day plans and instead of going to a nice French restaurant, we drove 30 minutes to go to a Waffle House. It was fun 🙂  I’ve also been taking some pictures. Our dog is a good model, now if I only can make him realize I am the pack leader, it would be good.

It’s time for #WriterRecharge 2015…

WriterRecharge 2015

It’s February, which means it’s time for Writer Recharge!

Once again hosted by Sara Biren, Katy Upperman, Alison Miller, Liz Parker, and me, Writer Recharge is your chance for a four-week jump start in the middle of a cold, dreary winter. Set goals for yourself, check in once a week, and connect with other recharging writers.

This year, we’ve come up with a few categories you might want to consider when making your goals. You can choose a goal (or goals) for one or some or all:

  • WRITE/REVISE – Choose writing goals for the month.
  • READ/REREAD – Read a book that’s been on your TBR forever or reread something that had a great impact on you.
  • STRETCH – Do something outside your comfort zone, from reading a genre you typically avoid to trying a new food or rock climbing when you’re afraid of heights – that kind of thing.
  • SELF – Do something good for your mind or your body.
  • CONNECT – Find a way to make a difference in someone’s life. Make a connection, via social media or in person. Initiate twitter writing parties, have a real-life write-in with writers in your town, or offer to critique or beta read someone’s work.
  • FUN – Make a goal to do something super fun and exciting that you can look forward to.

How Writer Recharge works:

  • First week of February: Post your goals for the month on your blog, website, or Twitter. Use the hashtag #WriterRecharge. Link your blog post on Sara’s blog.
  • Every Monday in February: Update your progress via your blog or twitter. Link your blog posts on our Monday posts.
  • Throughout the month: Use the hashtag to connect with other writers, have writing parties, and cheer one another on!
  • Friday, February 27: Post your final update via your blog or twitter.
  • Anyone who uses the hashtag or links their blog posts will be entered to win a fabulous prize package at the end of the month.

My goals – On my side, I will be focusing February on a few of the categories.

What I’m reading

I’m scaring myself (and doing research at the same time for my NA thrillers) by reading
And I am in the middle of  THROUGH THE EVER NIGHT by Veronica Rossi

What else I´ve been up to

  •  Preparing for the arrival of our dog…we’re now only waiting to hear when we can go and pick him up.
  • 10937362_10103379857255818_221378814_nRe-watching Friends thanks to Netflix.

What works for me

Trying to get into a schedule…I was oh so productive when I had basically no time and there are two things I noticed that I no longer have a day job.

  1. There are a LOT of things to do inside the house, a LOT and those things take time.
  2. I need to have a schedule to somewhat stick to. It helps me to achieve some of my daily goals.

I can’t wait to check all your posts and see what you’ve been up to 🙂

What I´m reading

Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2)

I am also beta reading one amazing book. The type of book that gives you flutters because you fall in love with the characters on page 1. No really, SURF & SURRENDER is all that and more.

Surf & Surrender (Summer Love Series, #2)

She wants to forget he ever existed. He’d never give up her memory.

You can pre-order SURF & SURRENDER, just sayin’ 🙂

(Amazon | iBooks | Barnes & Noble | Kobo)

What else I´ve been up to

So many different things.
  • Being glued to the TV the entire past week. Spending lots of time on the phone with my parents. Having a tiny spark of hope  when seeing so many people from so many different paths getting together on Sunday.
  • Recovering from my cold, slowly but surely.
  • The hubby and I are also in the process of adopting a rescue dog. We’re crossing our fingers this little boy will become part of our family very soon.

What works for me

To-do lists.

When I worked full-time, they enabled me to make sure I didn’t forget anything…and now that I’m not working they enable me to focus on what needs to be done.

I can’t wait to check all your posts and see what you’ve been up to 🙂

It’s BLACKOUT release day! (and psshhh, you could win a Kindle!)

I am so happy and excited for Meredith! It’s BLACKOUT release day 🙂 Did you pick it up already? To celebrate, Meredith is giving away some pretty awesome prizes: TWO Kindle Paperwhites, a signed copy of THE EIGHTH GUARDIAN, and a signed hardcover of BLACKOUT.

Blackout cover2

Seventeen-year-old Amanda Obermann (code name: Iris) has more on her mind than usual. As a member of a covert government organization called the Annum Guard, which travels through time to keep history on track, Iris has been getting some particularly stressful assignments. Plus, Jane Bonner, the Guard’s iron-fisted new leader, seems determined to make life as hard as possible. Thankfully, Iris has Abe (code name: Blue), her boyfriend and fellow Guardian, who listens to her vent—and helps her cope with her mentally ill mother’s increasingly erratic behavior.

When Guardians start to disappear on their assignments, Iris makes a terrifying discovery: a “blackout” squad is targeting anyone who gets in the way of a corrupt force that’s selling out both the Annum Guard’s missions and Guardian lives. Together, Iris and Blue must go undercover to untangle the Guard’s elaborate web of secrets and lies. But when Iris discovers that the terrible truth may involve her own father, a former Guardian undone by his own greed, she must decide how much she’s willing to risk to rescue her friends…and how dangerous the consequences will be for all of humanity.

A thrilling time-traveling adventure that spans from Abraham Lincoln’s assassination to the Cuban Missile Crisis and back to the present day, this pulse-pounding sequel to The Eighth Guardian reveals that playing with time can turn into a deadly game.

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Bookish and Blogging Resolutions For 2015

toptentuesday

I will be focusing this post about my bookish and blogging resolutions for 2015, there most probably will be another post about my 2015 goals (personal and writing related) at the beginning of January 🙂

In no particular order:

  • Read at least 60 books this year.
  • Read at least one non-fiction book a month.
  • Write more reviews about the books I love and cross link them to Amazon & BN. Leaving reviews really do help authors and spreading the love about books I enjoyed is something I love doing! (yes, that’s a lot of “love” in two sentences)
  • Write a short email to the authors of books I loved to tell them how much I enjoyed their book. (I really appreciate receiving emails as a writer so time to give back!)
  • Participate in the WordPress weekly Photography challenge.
  • Try to find a book club close by.
  • If feasible, volunteer at my local library
  • Reply to comments left on my blog as often as possible
  • Participate in this January Instagram challenge. Looks life fun 🙂

But above all, pause and enjoy all those moments I am spending with books and connecting with people…because they’re oh so important!

What’s the ONE book I really should read this year you think?

Books, reading

YA superlative blogfest 2014 – Head of the Class

Class of 2014_Banner

It’s time for the 4th Annual YA Superlative Blogfest! Jessica Love, Tracey Neithercott, Alison Miller, and Katy Upperman hosted this interactive blogfest in 20112012, and 2013 with the hope of highlighting their favorite YA novels, covers, characters, and story elements.  And they´re back for the 2014 edition.

All covers in my round-up link to the goodreads pages.

HEAD OF THE CLASS

Favorite Dystopian

TAKEN had brought me out of a reading slump last year and FROZEN exceeded my expectations. I cannot wait for the last installment…

Favorite Science Fiction

Hmmm I did read this book in 2013 but it is a 2014 release…so it counts, right? (plus I don´t read lots of Sci-fi unless you count some of the awesome manuscripts I´ve beta read but I can´t put those on this list—maybe soon!)

Favorite Fantasy

Love, love, love. And so happy for Jen! This book made me laugh, and cringe, and swoon, and yes I almost cried on the plane…Jen needs to get to the sequel soon 🙂
I don’t read a lot of fantasy but I’d follow Bree pretty much anywhere.

Favorite Contemporary

(so this section will have subsections…because I´ve read A LOT of contemporary novels…)

Favorite contemporary that made my heart beat faster

Favorite contemporary that made my heart bleed (no pun intended)

Favorite contemporary that made my heart fill with hope

Favorite Comedy that had lots of romance & made me want to go back to Italy

It´s not entirely a comedy but it does have lots of fun moments.

🙂 Hmmm it would seem I read a LOT of contemporary novels… 🙂

Looking forward to seeing what books made it at the top of your lists!
