Ready Set Write

Ready. Set. Write! #RSWrite – 3rd update

RSW9

Ready. Set. WRITE! is a summer writing intensive that encourages goal-setting and accountability, and provides an opportunity for us to cheer each other on wherever we’re at with our writing projects—planning, drafting, revising, or polishing. This year, your RSW hosts are Alison MillerJaime MorrowErin FunkKaty Upperman and myself. (For the detailed information about RSW, including  the wonderful buttons created by the lovely Jaime, click here)

And don’t forget, if you’re on Twitter, we check and cheer each other on using #RSWrite

Hope everyone had a wonderful second week!

1.  How I did on last week’s goals.

  • Finish revising as planned on Monday –> DONE! 🙂 🙂 🙂 And have already received amazing helpful feedback. On track for publication on July 30th!
  • Outline and revise/rewrite 15000 words for ALWAYS SECOND BEST –> Nope. #ElodieFail I wrote about 5000 words spread in different stories and added about 5000 to A SUMMER LIKE NO OTHER.
  • Prepare the cover reveal for A SUMMER LIKE NO OTHER –> DONE! Xpresso Book Tours is organizing the reveal 🙂 So. Exciting.
  • Share the blurb on A SUMMER LIKE NO OTHER on my Facebook group. –> DONE! I even shared a video for the occasion. I’m totally awkward on it but it was fun.
  • Dedicate at least an hour a day to business-related tasks. –> DONE! Accomplished quite a lot so YAY!
  • Run 3 times this week. –> DONE! Ran 4 times this week including my first 5k ever.

2.  My goal(s) for this week.

  • Revise A SUMMER LIKE NO OTHER and send it to my copy-editor
  • Outline ALWAYS SECOND BEST (I have about 30000 words, but they’re in need of rewrite and reorganization since I finished A SUMMER LIKE NO OTHER(
  • Write 5000 words in ALWAYS SECOND BEST
  • Spend at least one hour per day on business matters
  • Run 3 times a week and do strength training at least twice this week.

3.  A favorite line from my story OR one word/phrase that sums up what I wrote/revised.

“Lips that are so fucking inviting I should get a prize for not asking if I could kiss her.”

4.  The biggest challenge I faced this week (ex. finding time to write).

Balancing the business side and the writing side…

5.  Something I love about my WiP.

The feedback from my beta readers. Thanks to them, I really have the feeling that people will fall in love with Em & Nick and ❤ ❤ ❤ this makes me so happy! Plus, I get to continue stretching my writing thanks to their feedback. So, yay!

I am SO very much looking forward to reading all about your progress!

Don’t forget to add your update via the linky 🙂

  1. Congrats! Looks like you had an amazingly productive week! Also whoohoo on the 5k. I am in awe because my lazy behind is trying to get back to even walking on the treadmill (walking not running). Keep up the amazing work!

    1. Thank you so much, Eve 🙂 I used to hate running. In high school, I loved PE except when it was running. I was the last one, always trailing behind (and walking) but I’m starting to enjoy it and it feels both weird and very nice. lol Hope you’re having a fantastic week!

  2. So glad I was able to read and hopefully help with ASLNO! And go, go, GO with ASB, friend! I’m so excited to read that for you too!

Hope you have a great week, Elodie! And congrats on the 5K!

    1. Thanks, Alison! You helped me SO MUCH with ASLNO! I love your comments (and will never hate you :P) and I am very very grateful for your amazing feedback! Hope you’re doing great this week! Cheering you on, CANNOT wait to re-read CM and read your soccer book ❤ (by the way, was thinking about you when watching USA/GER, my husband was sooo disappointed :P)

    1. Thank you SO much, Jaime! Hope you had a Happy Canada day yesterday! 🙂 I’ve always been bad at running so it felt so nice to do this 5k. I’m actually starting to enjoy going on jogs. (it’s also time I spend with my hubby so it may have something to do with it even though he takes his “coach” persona way too seriously lol) Hope you’re having a wonderful week ❤

    1. Thanks, Emma 🙂 Balancing is a tough act but I’m also really liking the business side, now if I could write faster. lol Hope you’re having a wonderful week!

  3. Congrats on completing so much last week! You covered writing, business, and fitness all in one week. That is so awesome. And I love your line. It makes me want to read the entire book.

    1. Thank you so much Alicia 🙂 Glad you liked the line, I am so in love with Em & Nick and their summer…can’t wait (but also oh so nervous) about the world getting to know them soon! Hope you’re having a wonderful week!

  4. Nice job on finishing your revisions AND earning yourself some awesome feedback! Even if you didn’t rewrite 15k on your other project, 5k here and there is still amazing! t takes me a lot of hours to get out that many words, so a big thumbs up on that! Good luck with your goals this week, Elodie! 🙂

    1. Thank you SO MUCH, Erin ❤ I used to hate running and totally sucked at it so running 5k without stopping feels like such an accomplishment 🙂 Hope you're having a wonderful week and that you had an amazing Canada Day yesterday!

    1. Awww, thank you so much Christina 🙂 I’m so nervous about the world getting to know Nick & Em in less than a month now. I really fell in love with them as I was writing their story. Hope you’re having a wonderful #RSWrite week!

  5. Wow, you always get so much accomplished each week. So impressed! Congrats on all of the good feedback and for being on track for publication in a month. Good luck with everything this week.

  6. You totally rocked your goals this week — especially that finished draft and your 5K. Awesome job, lady! It was so great to see you the other day. Can’t wait for our next lunch. I’m already researching menu items. 🙂 See you soon!
