Happy Friday, revising, writing

Happy Friday #30 – Blog awards, Critiquing and feeling like a rock star :D

Yay, it´s time for Happy Friday 😀 Looking forward to know what made you smile this week!

I have been super duper busy this week, leaving the house at 6.45am and not coming back until 8.15pm for example yesterday. But, since there’s always a silver lining, not only do I enjoy my job, I also had a lot to make me smile this week…

Blog awards: I’ve received a LOT of blog awards in the past couple of weeks. Sorry I didn’t manage to properly accept them yet but again THANK YOU so much 😀

Critiquing and beta reading: Jaime sent me the beginning of her new WiP- I haven’t critiqued it yet, I just read it and I was left wanting more of it! Plus I have Sara’s first fifty pages waiting for me, and the 2500 first words of the wonderful writers in my peer review group for Mandy Hubbard’s class. I can’t tell you how much I learn about writing by critiquing and beta reading…

Getting my little blog  mentioned by Sara Megibow on Twitter: Yep, it’s kind of a fuzzy feeling and a bit “did that really just happen?”

Degrassi Junior High: I loved, loved, loved that show when I was younger. I caved and bought the DVDs…

A lunch break stroll…: As I said my week was busy, but one day during the week, I decided to take a short break to get some fresh air…and the view made me smile.

So, tell me, what made YOU smile this week?

  1. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on WFTS – but no hurry if you can’t get to it this weekend! 🙂 Here’s what made me smile during a high-stress event week at work:

**I worked about a gazillion hours getting ready for our annual dinner last night, which is now over. We had a live auction and the auctioneer was really fun and that made me smile a lot!
**I am smiling a lot today because the event is OVER! I am also very tired.
**The writing cave – there is a fair amount of grimacing during the writing process but some smiling, too.
**My daughter has been reading to me every night, sounding out words and giving high fives when she gets really hard ones. I love that so much.
**A really hot black and white photo of a young Paul Newman (shirtless) that was posted by Unique Vintage on facebook this week. Huge smile. 🙂

Back to the cave I go – Have a great weekend!

    1. As you know Sara, I loved WFTS 😀 Hope what I sent you was helpful… Ohhh and how cute that your daughter reads to you at night! 😀 Hope your last week was less stressful! and that you´re enjoying a wonderful weekend 😀

  2. I had a pretty great week too, and to top it off my family is visiting this weekend.
Congrats on the blog mention! And that was an excellent post.
Hope you have a happy and relaxing weekend 🙂

  3. I think the happiest I’ve been is learning that my order for Ten by Gretchen McNeil has been disapatched! Haha, I was over the moon when I heard and I can’t wait for Monday to arrive!

  4. What a wonderful post – so upbeat and happy. Glad you had such a good week!

Let’s see. What made me smile this week? I found out I finaled in the Golden Pen (a writing contest through RWA). That was exciting. And my daughter has been especially sweet lately, which is so much fun. Plus the autumn leaves are gorgeous. Beauty always makes me smile.

    1. Thank you Caryn 😀 Friday is my day to think back about things that made me smile – even if the week was super stressful, there´s always a silver lining somewhere 😀

Congrats on being a finalist for the Golden Pen 😀 Hope you´re having a wonderful weekend!

  5. Ha! Cheers for buying Degrassi. There was a moment last week when I had all seven seasons of BOY MEETS WORLD in my Barnes and Noble shopping cart…”just to see how much they cost”. I ultimately decided I would spend that time and money elsewhere (ok, on books) but I will probably ask for them for Christmas. There’s something irresistible about the shows from that era!

    1. 😀 I only bough*t* the first season of Degrassi but still quite exciting 😀 I remember watching that show with my older sisters…And I loved Boy Meets World too! Hope you´re having a wonderful time this weekend, can´t wait to hear all about it!

  6. Sounds like you had a busy, but productive week!

Funny you should mention Degrassi Junior High. Earlier this week (and one thing that really made me grin from ear-to-ear) I met one of the first writers of Degrassi. Susin Nielsen, a Canadian, wrote 16 episodes and even played the Janitor in a few scenes, until her character was cut. She has since written 3 YA novels, ‘Word Nerd’, ‘Dear George Clooney Please Marry My Mom’ and ‘The Reluctant Journal of Henry K. Larson’. I found her to be funny and really down to earth, touching on subjects that really affect kids and, as she confessed, some things that happened to her. It was quite a lot of fun listening to her and seeing the reactions the middle-grade students had while listening to her, too. All this and more happened during our local writers festival called Thin Air – an event that happens every September and always makes me smile. 🙂
