Happy Friday, revising, writing

Happy Friday #26 – WriteOnCon, revising and other stories…

Yay, it´s time for Happy Friday 😀 Looking forward to know what made you smile this week!

WriteOnCon: This conference – wow. No, really: wow!!! Here are my favourites

And I got to ask questions in the chat, which totally humbled me, and I simply loved it. Loved all of it. All those advice, the passion, all the talent, really amazing, those wonderful people giving their time!!! And congrats to everyone who got feedback by the Ninja Agents!

Webinar by Sara Megibow “Ten Queries In Ten Tweets”: I signed up for this webinar and I am super excited. Yes, I will have to get up in the middle of the night to attend (technically I could also just watch the video later but I want to be there :P) I’m very much looking forward to absorb and discuss.

Revision: This week has been full of revisions. I received feedback from Taryn on my first ten pages (thanks to the fact I was one of the 3 winners of her query contest) and wow, she really is amazing. I think my chapter one is ready and powerful. My CP and beta readers also have so much patience with me as I’ve reworked that chapter SO. MANY.TIMES. But I think thanks to them  it was all worth it because the stakes are clearer, and the reader can really connect with Natalja from the beginning now. I’ve also been working on formatting, on strengthening some sentences, diversifying their lengths and all. And it truly feels like something amazing is happening as I do this, it’s like all strings are pulling together to make my novel better. And I’m falling in love with it all over again.

Reading: I read two books of Jennifer Echols (inspired by the fact that Jessica Love was gushing about her) this week and I’m now an official fan 😀

And I’m looking forward to the weekend…It’s a pretty special one for many reasons, celebrating my birthday tomorrow and on Sunday, an early celebration of our anniversary 🙂

I’m just lucky!

So, tell me what made you smile this week?

  1. Hurray for Happy Friday! I just love these posts. I was able to “attend” WriteOnCon on Tuesday but not Wednesday, so I need to go back and get caught up. And I love Jennifer Echols, too. I wrote about FORGET YOU this week – funny!

Here’s what’s making me happy this week:
*So happy to be one of your beta readers! 🙂
*So happy to be going on vacation in 3 hours and 41 minutes. Make that 40.
*So happy to have MY LIFE NEXT DOOR from the library.
*Still on a total happiness high from Coldplay Saturday night.

Happy Birthday and Anniversary and have a FANTASTIC weekend!

  2. WriteOnCon was pretty smile-inducing. 🙂 The only change I would suggest for next year is for the vloggers to wear lapel mics. The audio on some of the presentations was a little quiet, and with others, there was too much low-end hum. But the whole event was worth it. The forums were very active, I got to read some great queries, and even though I didn’t have anything to submit this year, it was still good seeing people I knew and offering my thoughts to help improve their work.

    1. The event was really great to get a glimpse inside the publishing world and to interact with many many talented people! 😀 Glad you enjoyed it too 😀

  3. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! And yes – writeoncon made me smile and feel VERY rejuvenated. And aside from my family, the other thing that made me smile this week – revisions. I just LOVE revising. 🙂 Have a great weekend! And thanks for the heads up on the query tweet thing. I might check it out. 🙂

    1. Thank you VERY much Alison 😀 I’m right with you on revisions, I didn’t think I would enjoy them that much but I spent more than 5 hours yesterday revising and didn’t see the time fly 😀 Hope you had a wonderful weekend, and let me know if you end up doing the Webinar!

  4. I there Elodie! I got here from WriteOnCon and I’m a new blog follower 🙂 I’m also at the revision stage of my MS so I get it when you talk about revising things many times… Happy birthday and enjoy your weekend!

    1. Hi 😀 Thank you very much EM! Glad to see you here! How did you enjoy WriteOnCon? I really learned a lot both through the forums and through the events! Hope your revisions are going well 😀

    1. Thank you very much Juliana 😀 Hope you had a great weekend! Taryn is indeed very very helpful, she gave me some tips which I definitely can apply throughout my manuscript 😀

  5. Sounds like you’ve had another awesome week. The convention sure has a lot of great workshops going on. I hope you find them all useful. I love going to writing cons. We have a Writer’s Festival coming up next month that I am really looking forward to.

As for what made me smile – I really enjoyed spending time with my grandson, friends, and did I mention my grandson? Hope you had a great weekend. 🙂

  6. What a great week! I loved WriteOnCon as well and have some favourites I wanted to post on Monday if they are still there. Definately doing it next year! =D

And congrats for this weekend! Happy Birthday and Anniversary!
