My Life as a Fictional Character…

Today is Road Trip Wednesday 🙂 RTW is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YA Highway’s contributors post a weekly writing or reading-related question and answer it on our own blogs. You can hop from destination to destination and get everybody’s unique take on the topic.

Before I get started, don´t forget you can enter my giveaway for a SIGNED copy of MY LIFE NEXT DOOR by Huntley Fitzpatrick (see interview with Huntley and details here)

This week’s topic: : If you could be reincarnated as any fictional character, which would it be?

So, for some reason, the first things that came to my mind were:

  1. All the books I wouldn´t want to be in even though how I loved them very very much. No, really, I don´t see myself listening to “And may the odds be ever in your favor” as I walk into The Hunger Games. Even though, I´d love to meet Katniss and all.
  2. All the boys which should have attended my high school with the specific purpose of sweeping me off my feet (until I met my wonderful hubby of course :P).
  3. Some of said-boys are actually in the first category aka places I´d be afraid to put my feet into or just part of very very sad stories or sad families. Oh Jonah Griggs, how I wish you´d have been in my Sociology or Math class but nope.

So, hmm, what to do? what to do? Yep, I´ll totally be Anna from Anna and the French Kiss.

Paris – Source: me 😀
Tour Eiffel. Picture taken in 2009 😀

Why? Well, there are plenty of reasons but here a few…

  1. She lives in Paris
  2. Etienne St-Clair – do I need to say more?
  3. She has goals and friends and hobbies and dreams. And Etienne. And Paris 😀
  4. Her family has positive sides. Love her little brother.

Now I am curious, if you could be into a book, which one would it be?

  1. I completely and utterly agree, most of my YA heroines don’t have a great time of it! I don’t want to be Katniss! I have linked to you in my own post (shortly to be up) I agree so much!

  2. I agree – all the characters I’d like to be lare from dystopian fic and ive in some pretty horrible places or times. I almost chose Anna because of the whole living in Paris thing, but I went with one of my favorites – Maximum Ride. Great post today, Elodie!

  3. Yeah, I think Anna is a pretty good choice. As much as I love dystopian fiction, I think living those stories would be pretty terrible. Unless there was a Peeta in it (especially pre-Mockingjay). 🙂

  4. I don’t think I’ll have time to road trip it today, but I thought about choosing Anna, too. I probably would have to land on someone like Betsy Ray from my childhood favorite Betsy-Tacy series or Anne of Green Gables or Jo March. I would definitely have to be reincarnated as a writer. Preferably a successful one. 🙂 Great choice!

  5. I’m with on most of the heroines and heroes I’ve read about. They’re always in such dangerous worlds or face dangerous quests that I wouldn’t be too happy about facing. So while I love the likes of Tris and Katniss, their worlds are too threatening for me!

  6. I, too, considered the world in which the characters I like live, which helped eliminate a bunch of them. Harry post-Voldemort might be fun, but certainly not during his 7 years at Hogwarts!

Nice pictures of Paris, Elodie. 😀

  7. Ooh, awesome choice, Elodie! Gosh… I can’t decide how I’d answer this question… Anna would definitely be high on my list though, as would Karou from Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Taylor from Jellicoe Road (only so I could kiss Jonah Griggs!).

  8. Good choice! My first thought when I read the topic were characters that I loved but wouldn’t want to be too. I certainly wouldn’t mind having Etienne either. 🙂

  9. “Etienne St-Clair – do I need to say more?” << NOOO! hehe
I loved Anna and the French Kiss … and Lola and the Boy Next Door.
    Great choice!

  10. Hah, I did the same thing! (thought about the bad situations chars often get into in YA novels) Though the pick I eventually settled on came floating to the surface of my mind pretty fast.

I haven’t read this book yet, but heard it mentioned a lot. Anna sounds like a fun one!

  11. Anna from the french kiss would be a great character to be. Especially the fact that she is so real with worries and fears and likes/dislikes. Great choice, Elodie. I also participated in this week’s road trip! 🙂

  12. I would be terrified to be characters from most of the books I read. I haven\’t read Anna and the French Kiss but from my knowledge I don\’t think I would fear for my life. I would love to go to Paris though.
    Great post. Thanks for sharing.

  13. Hahah, you frenchie, loyal to your country until the end 😉 Just teasing! I haven’t read the book yet but the story sounds lovely!
