The excitement of new words…

As you know, a few weeks ago, I finished polishing ONE TWO THREE.  I’ve received some additional feedback from other writers telling me it’s really ready to be sent out in the big wild world and how much they loved it. Apparently, one of my strengths is making yummy love interests…Natalya is now more likable on paper and not only in my head. I love ONE TWO THREE. I cross my fingers someone will fall in love with it so it can see the light of the day. It’s back into Query Land, and to contests.

But now instead of stressing about the outcome, I pour my energy into my new story. And it’s EXCITING…

Happy kitty

I know you all will understand what I mean.

The rush of new words. Falling in love with new characters, a story…fleshing them out until they become real. Plus I have the feeling my writing got so much better and stronger since I wrote the very first draft of my last novel. Beta reading and critiquing, receiving feedback on my own writing has helped me grow as a writer and I have all the butterflies, the overflow of creative energy running through my fingertips.

Of course, I’m still scared. What will it become? Am I good enough to tell the story? Will other people love it?

However, I’m enjoying the rush. It’s like the anticipation before a big moment and then riding the wave…Or making music, learning the notes and practicing until they come out as smoothly and powerful as possible…Or taking pictures, finding that one angle that makes the picture full of emotions…

Where are you on your writing journey these days?

Enjoy the rush! There’s nothing better than those days when the characters and the places are forcing their way out of your head and into words. It’s why we are writers. Why we are here.

I agree it’s a wonderful feeling 🙂 word of advice, if you have no luck the traditional route, don’t be afraid to self publish. It’s easy and you retain control over your work, plus you get it out there being read by people and that’s what it’s all about after all 🙂

Thanks! I haven´t thought about self publishing yet, but I know I want people to read my work…Having readers getting lost in our stories must be magical! (it already is when we have beta readers telling us how much they loved it :-))

I love that new story feeling too. 🙂 Actually, I kind of love the planning process for a new story in particular. I’m still plugging away at ONLY ANNIE and have made some strides, so that’s good. I’m going to be away until Monday, so sadly I won’t be getting any writing done. Ah well. Here’s hoping Tuesday is a good writing day! Can’t wait to hear more about this story of yours. 🙂

    • Elodie says:

Hope youre having a GREAT time at your parents ! 😀 😀 😀 And as you know Im a big fan of ONLY ANNIE. Cannot wait to read more of it… Im almost at 7500 words in my story and really loving it. When its a bit in a better shape, maybe Ill send you the first 3 chapters? Hugs from Germany!

Thanks Jessica 😀 How are your NaNo revisions going? 😀 GUILTY should be ready for betas around June. My goal is to finish the first draft by end of April, mid May. Then let it sit for a bit before making it pretty for you 😀 And hope youll let me return the favor and send me your manuscript whenever you feel like it 😀

I am thinking ALL the good thoughts for ONE TWO THREE and its journey into the big world… I am hoping for good news for you, Elodie! And yay for your new project! I’m feeling similar excitement because I’m getting started on (another) rewrite and I think it’s going to rock. 🙂

    • Elodie says:

Thanks so much Katy!!!! 😀 😀 😀 Im sure your rewrite is going to rock and I cannot wait to read it 😀 Writing those new words definitely help moving forward, getting lost in a new story with different characters is a great way to deal with querying anxiety! Hope youre having a wonderful weekend 😀

Hmm, where am I? Not much time for writing in my WIP these days. Been on a 6 week blog tour for 18 Things, but I’m bummed sales are way down. I’m anxious to finish the trilogy, and hoping sales will go up when all the books are out *fingers crossed*

    • Elodie says:

😀 Thanks! And right back at you! You started querying, no? A new story definitely helps getting my mind off the querying stress 😀 Plus falling in love with new characters and a new voice is amazing! Hope youre having a great weekend!

SO excited for ONE TWO THREE to find a home! (And I can’t wait to read it!) And new stories are so fun – I started working on a new one in November – just to break from my current WIP – and I am very excited to get back to it! Good luck with ONE TWO THREE!!!

    • Elodie says:

Thank you so much Alison 😀 Getting into my new story is definitely helping with the querying stress…that and reading some awesome manuscripts 😛 Would love to hear more about your new story! Hope youre having a wonderful weekend! Elodie

  7. Good luck for you with ONE TWO THREE! The pieces I read on some of the contests you entered looked so good, and I’m sure it’s only gotten better. I’m with you on being excited about something fresh. I hope you fall as in love with your new WIP as you did with the one you’re querying!

    • Elodie says:

Thanks so much Liz 😀 It looks like Im indeed going to fall in love with this new WiP…I think the voice is easy to identify with and Im super excited about the plot and the characters….so YAY 😀 Hope youre doing well!

  8. I’ve been editing and editing for what feels like forever, and just last month I finally started writing something new again, too, so I totally know the feeling. It feels like potential, I think. 🙂 Good luck with ONE TWO THREE, and happy writing!
