Yay, it´s time for Happy Friday 😀 Looking forward to know what made you smile this week!
Another Friday, another super duper busy week…Can’t wait to go home today and to curl up with a good story. Here are a few things that made me smile this week….
Katy’s awesome news: Katy is wonderful. She’s a wonderful person, and a wonderful writer. If you love contemporary YA, or just lovely writing, you should check out the snippets she has on her blog. Her book recommendations are also very thoughtful and her taste is impeccable. Oh and Katy is also a great mom, great cook (you can salivate just looking at her food pictures), great runner, a great friend.
And Katy just landed an agent. Her story is also so inspiring because she has just recently parted ways amicably with her former agent. She had to start querying again (while doing NaNo). She’s an example that talent, heart and dedication pay off. We all know it also takes a bit of luck. But without talent (and talent is a very complicated word but for me it’s the spark that one has and works on…with every book we write we get better), love for what you’re doing, and dedication, it’s much harder to get there!
If you haven’t done so yet, go congratulate her 🙂 (and I promise I’m not sounding bossy when I write this, I’m smiling :D)
Christa revealed the cover for Fault Line: You know the type of woman Christa is? She’s super woman and she doesn’t know it. She’s simply kind, generous, funny, endearing, smart, witty. She sometimes says that what she does is nothing compared to what others do. But you know what Christa? As I already told you, you’re still a hero for all of those you touch!
And look at the cover of her book? Don’t you get the chills looking at it? That logline? Every single time I look at it, I have ALL THE FEELINGS! Can’t wait for it to come out, and trust me I’ll be buying a few copies to hand out to the teenagers in my life.
The blurb: Ben could date anyone he wants, but he only has eyes for the new girl — sarcastic free-spirit, Ani. Luckily for Ben, Ani wants him too. She’s everything Ben could ever imagine. Everything he could ever want. But that all changes after the party. The one Ben misses. The one Ani goes to alone. Now Ani isn’t the girl she used to be, and Ben can’t sort out the truth from the lies. What really happened, and who is to blame? Ben wants to help her, but she refuses to be helped. The more she pushes Ben away, the more he wonders if there’s anything he can do to save the girl he loves.
You can add the book to your TBR on Goodreads here…and you can also go tell Christa how amazing she is or just laugh out loud at her blog posts here.
Reading: I beta read a wonderful manuscript – again, I feel so lucky that others entrust me with their manuscripts (plus the talent in all the novels I read amazes me). I also just finished FLAT-OUT LOVE and started LOSING IT…And I stayed up way too late to read last night…which made me happy cause getting lost in a book is an amazing feeling.
And….I decorated my Christmas Tree….:D
So, tell me, what made you smile this week?

I am so with you on sharing people’s happy news, and so happy for Katy! And I love Christmas, so even though I’ve been sick all week, it was nice to get my lights and some decorations up. We don’t get our tree until closer to Christmas because we keep it up until Three Kings Day. I hope December is filled with all kinds of happy things!
Sounds like an excellent week, for you and for your writing network. Isn’t it a great feeling to be plugged into a community of such awesome people? I love your tree–I did the rest of our decorating this week but I think we’re gonna get the tree this weekend! So excited!
Happy Friday, dear Elodie. Glad you’ve had a few happy things to write about this week, and TGIF for sure! Looking forward to the day that we can share some of your happy news! 🙂
Here’s what made me smile this week: my daughter’s Christmas concert last night; my kids watched Home Alone for the first time (and loved it); climbing out of the writing cave for some reconnecting.
Hope you have a great weekend – I’m looking forward to meeting with the MNYA writers group, getting new tires (lame), another Christmas pageant for the kids, and finishing the Christmas decorating!
So happy for the good news from Katy and others this week! A pine-scented candle and the promise of a night in doing Christmas cards today are making me smile. 🙂
I LOVE this post, Elodie!!!! So happy for Katy and Christa! I can’t wait to pick up Christa’s book in November on an ACTUAL BOOKSHELF!!! 😀 I loved FLAT OUT LOVE and hope you did too. I am happy because I just received the last of my beta notes on my novel and she really loved it. I do have a lot of work ahead of me but it doesn’t matter because ALL my readers told me this draft/rewrite is 10x better than before. Love your Christmas tree – as I am Jewish we don’t have one 😦 but our holiday Hanukkah starts tomorrow night, yay! eight days of lighting candles and singing songs and eating potato pancakes!
Elodie, this post made me all kinds of happy! Thanks so much for all of your compliments (I’m still smiling thinking about them!) and for passing along my good news. I can’t wait to do the same for you one day soon!
Your Christmas tree looks beautiful, and I can’t wait to hear what you think of LOSING IT. I really want to read that one!
Have a wonderful weekend, dear friend! ❤
Great news all around!
Fault Line has an excellent cover. Congrats, all!
It’s so beautiful to see you supporting fellow writers with such altruistic enthusiasm. That’s the true spirit of the holidays! 😀
Happy Friday! Lots of happy news 🙂 Love your tree.
The snow made me smile this week.
Hopefully Katy’s new agent will advocate for her as well as you do! Your Christmas tree looks so festive!
Things that made me smile this week? I got to shop for cheap books at a Scholastic warehouse sale. We went to a 1950s diner for supper and my favourite tea shop. Lots of fun. 🙂
Katy’s news was definitely awesome! Glad that all that hard work paid off in the end and for such a lovely person. 🙂
I really enjoyed FLAT-OUT LOVE. It was different, but a really fun read. I’m currently reading TIME BETWEEN US and really enjoying that one. Between good books, spending time with my mom (baking and listening to Christmas music), and having my hubby home for a couple of days, this Friday has had a lot to make me smile. 🙂
What a wonderful week for you and your friends! 🙂 I love the sound of Fault Lines. I may have to pre-order that.
I had a nice little week. Had my PGCE interview which I think went well and I’m now waiting to hear if I’ve passed to the second interview and the Christmas decorations went up which makes me super happy. I love Christmas! =D
Your Christmas tree looks great 🙂 Thanks for the link to Katy’s blog, I’m going to check it out right now… Have a good weekend!
Reading this definitely makes me smile. And getting my Christmas decorations put up, hanging out with my family, and starting in on my to-read pile is also making me happy this week.
Sharing a Peppermint Hot Cocoa with my eight year old son.
You are wonderful for being so supportive of your friends. I am certain they will appreciate your efforts to share their successes with us. 🙂
