Falling in love with Cape Cod and…Isaiah Jones Bed and Breakfast

I am trying to go through the pictures of my honeymoon and organize them so that I can share them (I don´t think anybody would really go through  1600 pictures). Today, I mesh it with Road Trip Wednesday (Blog carnival from YA Highway) as they asked what would be the place of our writing retreat and the people we would bring with us (yay for Colin who asked on Twitter what the topic for this week would be :D)

Cape Cod and Isaiah Jones B&B would be a great writing retreat. I´d bring my hubby along and all of you. We could rent out the B&B and have writing sessions, talk about books, have a drink or two, or simply enjoy our surroundings. Anybody in for poker too? or scrabble? And the breakfasts would just help us power through anything!

If you have a significant other, you should bring him/her too.  They could hang out altogether while we do the writing thing. And everybody can also spend some alone time in their quiet, cozy room or walk on the beach.  Maybe one day?

I´ve gushed about this Bed and Breakfast before. This is where Chemical Engineer and I stayed for a night in 2007 and where we decided to come back to in order to spend a few relaxing days in Cape Cod after driving around for so long.

We were not disappointed at all. Not by Sandwich, not by Cape Cod and definitely not by this wonderful Bed and Breakfast. Donnie and Katherine are not only warm and friendly, they have plenty of tips to discover the area. And the breakfasts are delicious!

  • Some of my favorite pictures from Cape Cod

  • Our favorite restaurant in Sandwich, MA

  • And the lovely details of Isaiah Jones Homestead Bed and Breakfast (you can click below to see a slideshow of some of the pictures I took of this charming place)

Is there one place you really love going on vacation to?
Or have you already gone on any writing retreats?

Winter impressions…

Photography is one of my hobbies…I can get lost in the moment trying to find an angle, a light, a message in nature or in people´s eyes. It´s been awhile since I found the time to actually venture out with my camera. Below you will see some winter impressions from the past years (when we actually had a little bit of snow).

But as always, I´m curious: what is your hobby?

And because there is always hot spiced wine 🙂

Photography, writing

Because a picture can be worth a thousand words…

By what do you get inspired? It is almost like asking: why are you writing?

Sometimes, it is difficult to grasp where the writing scenes come from…

Sometimes one can recognize in the MC´s habits, way of talking some small characters of a loved one, an acquaintance, of somebody from the past or even of oneself.

Tonight, as I was outside looking at the moon reflecting on the water, I wondered what my main character would feel on an evening like this with everything she has been going through…

Is she thinking of Aleksi, the one who not only gives her butterflies but is no longer as mysterious as she first thought?

Is she pondering the words of Ben? Is she wondering what he meant when he said Aleksi was dangerous? How does he even know him? The guy just arrived…

Or maybe she is actually tired of the stupid drama and just wants to figure out why this entity is coming after her and her loved ones, why she has flashbacks from another time and what the heck happened to Marie and Elijah, those girls who are linked to her over the centuries?

As I type this and look at the moon, I know a scene is unfolding, I feel the pain of my character and I just want to tell her “Sorry you have to go through all of this but remember, you have it in your power to make the right decision…this time around”

And if she did hear me, her reply would be “Can´t you be a tad more specific? I mean come on people…I just cannot guess what you think, you need to spell it out for me. I am tired of this!” and she would storm out.

She does have a little temper of her own…(my husband would say I am projecting :-))
