Happy Friday, writing, YA Book Club

A late happy Friday :D because well it´s really Saturday…

It´s actually Saturday so technically I am a tad late but really, if you come to think of it, yesterday´s post was also a happy one 😀 (review of The Fault in Our Stars for the YA Book Club).

I would love to know what made YOU smile last week…

Writing: My flash fiction “Look, don´t touch” made it to the second round of the Campaign Challenge..Thanks again Gina for letting me know! I am so excited and I did a little *happy dance*, especially as I am thinking about expanding it to a full draft at some point. Colin kindly pointed out to the writing contest of Janet Reid to win a copy of Insurgent. I wrote a little something something, now let´s wait and see 😀 There´s still some time and I have read some amazing entries!

Blogging: The YA Book Club is a lot of fun and I´m very happy I have joined. And…did you notice the new layout of my blog? I have tabs now! And I even have a real picture of me (actually two! because the one in my About Me is different)…

SCBWI: I took another big step and joined SCBWI! I am trying to organize a monthly lunch in my area to meet with writers and discuss our craft 😀

So, tell me what made YOU smile this past week?

  1. I will be joining in on next month’s book club book (whatever it might be). Glad you enjoyed this one. I too joined SCBWI this past week. It felt like a good thing to do, and I’m happy I did. I’ve been meaning to put a little link up on my blog, but keep forgetting. Have a wonderful weekend, Elodie!

P.S. Congrats on getting to the second round with your flash fiction 🙂

    1. Thanks Jaime 😀 It felt indeed right to join SCBWI, a step in the right direction…My goal/dream is to go to a conference next year (maybe the one in NYC)

  2. Congratulations on making the second round with your flash fiction, Elodie! And thanks for the mention. Your entry for Janet’s contest is really good–certainly a worthy contender! Win or lose these contests are excellent writing exercises, which is why I like to promote them to my writing buddies. 🙂

  3. Good energy, great connections, love how things are manifesting for you Elodie, keep it up.

Smiling here because its the school holidays and I’m housesitting a chateau with the kids, so a kind of working holiday, but the sun is out, I have my copy of William Maxwell’s ‘The Chateau’ and I’m allowing these old walls to inpsire me.

  4. SCBWI is amazing. I’ve met many writer friends through that organization, and they have amazing events and conferences.

Congrats on making it to the next round with your flash fiction!

  5. Congrats on getting to the second round! I’ve never been very good at flash fiction….I find it so much more difficult than writing a novel, for some reason.

And writing first drafts makes me smile!

  6. Hi from a fellow campaigner. Congratulations on making it to the second round. That’s awesome news. And congrats are all your other happy things. 🙂

  7. Wow, round two! That’s so excellent. Fingers crossed for you!

Making me smile this week: writing my first query, getting feedback on it from an agent and a request for pages and completing a 5K race.

Comments put a smile on my face :-)
